Small Group Discussion Questions

1. Read Genesis 2:15. Before sin entered the world, God had already instructed Adam to work. This should show us that work isn’t a curse, hard work is.  What do you think are some differences between Adam’s original work and ours?

2. When Joshua told the people that if they wanted something, they were going to have to go out and work for it, they responded with complaints & excuses. Does this sound familiar?  If so, how?

3. Society teaches us that if you make a big enough scene, we can get what we want. Where are some places this practice works & where are some areas where this practice won’t?

4. Henry Cloud says that to help an entitled person, we have to help them want something better for themselves. What are some ways we can do this?

5. When complaints and excuses came Joshua’s way, he stuck to his guns. Why do you think it’s so easy to cave when we meet resistance?

6. Pastor Jon said that eradicating entitlement is a life or death situation. Do you agree or disagree?  Why?

7. Sometimes people come to faith believing that God is a genie in a bottle and end up walking away from God because it wasn’t what they signed up for. Do you think we are doing anything that might help contribute to this belief?  If so, what?
